hey everybody
i've been working as the editor-in-chief at SLAP skateboard magazine in san francisco for over a decade now, shooting, writing, interviewing and just about everything you can do for a magazine. we cover skateboarding and it's surrounding culture, mainly music and art, the world over, and Gingko Press just released a book showing some of my favorite portraits of skaters, artists and musicians from over the last 10 years, as well as travel, street, snaps and general artsy stuff as well (no action photos in this one). it's called "this is not a photo opportunity". thought i'd spread the word here- there's a couple things you can check out as previews of the book, and Gingko has been cool enough to let SLAP offer 20% on the book through our website. anyhow, if you're interested in having a look, check these out:

1) feature at slapmagazine.com with photos and audio captions and the code to get 20% off if you order via SLAP.

2) i had the honor of being interviewed by one of my favorite artists, Don Pendleton, for a feature around the book at Level Mag- more photos and a long interview.

i'd say a good 90% of the book was shot with an M6, M7 or M8, plus some MF RFs as well. i'm really honored to have a book out, so thanks for having a look if you do!

Very nice collection of photos. It provides an intriguing window on a world I no little about.

Excellent stuff

Thanks for posting the news. Congratulations on the publication and your latest news re distribution.
The bowling alley shot is smile-inducing.

Whiteley, Congratulations! I really enjoyed the presentation at the Slap site.

(BTW, I am old enough to remember when Spike Jonze was an intern at Freestylin' magazine, and now he is directing Where the Wild Things Are!)

Best of luck to you!
