My ship just came in: Zeiss Ikon ZM for 300 Euros

I guess this is just a bit of rambling from me, but I walked into a dealer today and found he had a Zeiss Ikon ZM on the shelf for 600 Euros. I checked it out and it seems like the horizontal rf alignment is off by two millimeters or so. I commented on it, and he immediately knocked it down to 300 Euros. Needless to say, I'm now a happy owner of a Zeiss Ikon.

Man - that finder is insane.

I recently bought one off an internet auction site for £500, which I was rather pleased with as I'd only seen them for around £800-£1000 beforehand. Does this betoken a fall in residuals for the Ikon?

Wow that's a great deal.
The RF misalignment is probably not a problem at all.
But if it's a problem for you, you could get it fixed. But i don't think it's a do-it-yourself easy problem.

I found the D-I-Y thread, and to be honest - I'm gonna leave it to the pros😛 (if it's a problem).

The thing is: I have a Leica MP, but the size of the finder on the Ikon is just, just, I mean. It is HUGE! The rangefinder patch seems to be a bit fuzzy when it comes to positioning of the eye, but man. Huge.

As you know already, that's not a problem as long as the vertical is OK. In my Nikon S2, the horizontal line is slightly off, but the photographs still turn out in focus... and they're painfully sharp.

Congratulations on your find and new toy! 🙂

What a great price! Congrats on your new acquisition. Personally, I prefer the ZI over any Leica M bodies. Love the single 35mm and 50mm framelines, especially in the huge viewfinder.

Cheers,
