For those who may be curious about the photo of yours truely. It was shot inside of a Cessna 152 executing a 45 degree banking turn about 1500 feet over the Santa Barbara Harbor. The camera is a Nikon F100 20mm f/2.8 D on a mini tripod in AP mode with matrix metering. Lens set at f/11 and hyperfocal manuel focusing was used with a two second timer delay. For this BLOG it would have been cool to have used a RF, but I needed the 20mm for the shot. Not much room in that cockpit.

A bit grainy to me... but kind of like exciting. So you were flying? I hope you had someone with you taking care of the shot., or did you do it all by yourself?

Film information?

I can't fly in a 152. :-(
With me and a normal sized instructor, CG is too far aft, and I have to pick either using the rudder or the yoke- my legs are too long to use both at the same time.

I like the picture, what were you doing? Instruction? Hobby?

Multitasking

I was alone in the plane on a paersonal photo flight. In a coordinated maneuver, the felt force remains straight through the bottom of the plane. So a camera sitting on a mini tripod up on the glare shield will just sit there even though everything is leaning way over. Like a turn on a motorcycle. I get it all set up ahead of time, get into the turn and reach up and trip the time delay shutter.
It is a eaiser when you have some one else flying as you can concentrate more on the photography and way less on the plane.

At the time, I was working part time as a Flight instructor. I have been flying since 1990, instructing since 1995 and so far have about 2500 hours of PIC time. I have flown as pilot a couple of times for a TV kids show "Critter Getters". And taken photographers up for money so they could shoot aerials for clients.

Since I am 6 feet tall, I can fit in a 152. Not much to spare. I know several men who can not fit into them though. They can fit in the172 though. I like 172s they just cost more per hour to rent.
