my stealth camera is here!!

yeah it was me...i'm trying to give back some good camera kharma, I'm glad it worked out so well for you. I hope you had G'man sign it...we should all pitch in and buy him an engraving kit so he can put his initials on his refurbishes somewhere...

oh thank goodness!
i used to have a poor memory and lately it seems worse.

took me 5 minutes this afternoon to remember how to get a picture on my tv screen while playing a dvd.

kinda frustrating.

and thanks again chris for the deal - you helped to make this all possible.

i've been carrying the camera around all day - just staring at it.

my part was the least of it all...just passing on a good deal to people who deserve it! I don't need to make any money off of my friends. My enemies on the other hand :D

That paint is satin black. It's not shiny. It's a paint normally used for metal outdoors. Pretty tough.
Can you use most kinds of paints for a cam? Like car paint, epoxy? Is that spray or brush?

There are a bunch of great paints out there that could be used for cameras. For instance, there are several finishes used primarily for firearms that would be excellent for camera repaints. These finishes are very tough, protect against rust and are very thin. Several of the products come in a variety of colors, including glossy reds, blues and greens, as well as milspec olives, grays and blacks. I almost repainted a Canon P in gunmetal gray, but sold it instead.

Thanks, Dave, dexdog. I have excess epoxy spray paint I used for my aquarium stand that I was thinking of using on a camera, but the part about sanding is scaring me off any repainting attempts now... Can't you just spray over (paint won't stick?)? How do you keep the paint off the internals and glass?

Ahh...Sounds a little complicated for me. Will take a while for me to have the guts to do anything to my cameras other than taking pics.

Hehe, I think I will keep it the way it is.:) Was thinking of repainting an RC I got off ebay, but now I'm scared off the idea.

well my colleagues at work did need some time to get used to the idea (and smell, in the beginning) but they are supposed to be a group of people with young mindset, always open for new:)

i hope you smelled like an expensive couch and not a dead cow :)

I am jealous, as I could never pull off the feat of leather pants even though I've always wanted to.

Pherdinand, I think Marc J. might like to photograph you. :)
:)you nasty guy
i'm not that kind of guy! (i think but you know, never tried...)

Actually a colleague of me asked 'what's this smell of an expensive car' , LOL
I've also always wanted it, so i said what the hell and i went for it.

Sorry joe for completely hijacking your thread :D

Nice camera. I've got one of those, though of course not painted-up like that. Quite sharp images from F/5.6 onwards, and small enough to take anywhere. I usually have it loaded with 100/200ASA b&w

great cameras i think.
under rated and still can be found at good prices.
plus it works without a battery if i want.

joe

How much does one of these run all fixed up take the new batteries? I need something since I am selling my G and getting an Xpan but I dont think i will be comfortable carrying the Xpan with me at all times. 1100 bucks is alot for a student, know what I mean....

Anyways it looks like a nice camera....Let me know a price I would be interested in fixing one up and painting it..

GRACIAS
