my style

Beautiful photographs and informative text, that illustrates the point(s) in the photos very well. I think it makes a lot of sense.

Simon, it is evident you love light, and that you have the patience to find the photo within it, whatever the circumstances. You also have a whimsical side that makes your photos easily accessible to most viewers. Another thing: you keep a respectful distance from even your closest subjects, which lets them maintain their dignity. Grand work. Do not lose the whimsy ...

Fantastic stuff Simon! i really enjoyed reading through this, it's quite rare to find this kind of content because such informative posts tend to either be more about the stale mechanics of photography or artsy fartsy wordy write-ups about visualising your photos.

i think you've given a little taste of art class advice backed up with winning examples here and hit the nail on the head. :)

thank you very much for sharing!

I would like to add, that I had the opportunity to be around when Simon is taking photos. I found him very observant with an excellent eye for emerging situations and his camera is ready to take the picture. In my opinion he is very talented.

That is, what I call excellent. That is, why I came into this forum. I want to learn. This is just awesome. Thanks!

Hi Simon,
very interesting article (remind me also a talk we had during the last meet-up here) and the photos you choose are a perfect definition of your style,
keep 'em coming!
Ciao

I like your photos. A lot.
The challenge with "style" of any sort is in not having style overwhelm the picture, not calling attention to itself.

In particular, 2 qualities. I like how your photos call attention to space or substance that exists off the frame. And I like the interplay between subject and context. Together, these qualities produce photos that have a tension and call forth the viewer's dynamic participation. Ultimately, it's the viewer doing the work, not the image. It's demanding of the viewer but it's also why someone might bother to look a second time or oftener--or put some in frames.
