My three lenses for M8.2

After researching and help from this wonderful forum, I finally bought three lenses to start.
CV 15/4.5 M
CV 28/2.0
Simmicron 50/2 latest version without 6-bit

I think this is a good combo to enter rangefinder's world.😎

Got a question here:
Since I can get two free filters from Leica, and those three lenses use 39mm, 46mm and 52mm. So which two should I apply from Leica? I don't want to wait for two months and I have no idea for their stock condition. I wrote to them two days ago and received no reply so far, as many of you experienced.

Can you get a 39-46mm step up adapter or 46-52 step up adapter? That may be a clue to your decision making.

I was not even aware that Leica makes 52mm UV/IR adapters.

Since I have no idea what's filter is available from Leica, I might get the rest one from B+W. So, I can apply 39+46 from Leica?

There is not much difference between Leica and B&W filters in practical use. I would get the ones that are readily available from Leica. Mail (call) them and ask.

Excellent choice of focal lengths for the M8. Get whatever filters you need today. 39 and 46 are Leica sizes.

To put the filter on your CV15 , reverse the filter,as not to touch the glass. Use a small piece of velcro or simular item on he edge of the filter and force the filter in place. Works great on mine.

Thanks. Do you mean even I buy a M-mount 15/4.5 still have difficulty to use 52mm filter?

I believe he's accidentally referring to the old version of the 4.5/15 heliar (which I happen to have myself as well). The new one has quite some advantages from the practical point of view: no need to get a specialized codeable M39->M adapter, coupled with rangefinder and, finally, a normal filter thread. Bullshark, you're all set.

I finally broke down and got a 21 Zeiss finder with frame lines - a very nice compagion indeed.

bullshark, i like your lense choices. with my m8, i have an elmarit 28/2.8 and cron 50/2. i am pondering what my third lens will be. unlike you, i do not really need a wider lense (e.g., your 15). thus, i'm considering lenses at 35 or 75. with the 35, though, my lenses would be "pretty tight" at 28, 35, and 50. thus, the 75 may make more sense. anyway, best of luck with your new m8.2 and series of lenses.

my 3 lenses are 35 asph cron, 50mm pre-asph lux and 90mm elmarit. love them all.

i am thinking about adding one wide angle, probably around 24mm range. i just can't decide which one.

You defintely want to put a filter on all three lenses so as not to have to install it when you change lens. I use all B+W filters and they work great.

Go for a 90. There are tons of options. Just as one example, the latest Elmarit is optically very good, has a built-in hood and is quite cheap s/h.
