Tom, if I could shoot wildlife the way you shoot it, I would never think of shooting street!!!
And, BTW, I am not good in "street" too

Boris

Again, those are all really wonderful. Do you take all the reptile photos at zoos? Pretty amazing considering the typical lighting I've seen at zoos

At the zoo LA should have a wonderful reptile house . Tripod , shutter release , macro lens and digital cam or slide film , some exposures can be as long as 14 sec. depending on the light . I shoot mostly the available light . If flash is needed, I fire it manually by hand off camera.

Great photos Tom. It's tough for us rangefinder shooters to get similar results so it always refreshing to see something like this thread.

Those are very nice wildlife images Tom ... though as I'm sure you're well aware this forum is locked into a certain type of imagery.
I suggest you re-do them in grainy black and white and be sure to have some legs or parking lot signs in the background ... preferably casting long shadows!![]()
Thanks Keith, I had a feeling it was going to be an ass whooping to break into this pool of RF shooters, man they are picky .
The next time I see a large cat next to a stop sign I'll be sure to get the shot.

Man , those compositions suck, your use of light is weak, I think you need to pick a harder subject matter to shoot , like one that that will sit still and pose for you when asked. You PPS needs more work as well .
Remember ( a good photographer a camera does not make )

Images embedded would be easier to see instead of small thumbnails you click through. Just a suggestion. Some wonderful ones here, post them big(ger).

Thanks David , as you can see I've been trying to shame people in to telling what they think , good or bad . I've already posted some that I thought might not be so intimidating .

I think some photos are definite stand-outs and significantly better than others. That said, I don't think you've posted anything 'bad.' This forum generally isn't a great place for critique. To be sure, your style of photography isn't the norm here at RFF. My subject matter / style is closer to yours than to most others here.
I might have processed some differently, e.g. the first photo in post #32 I would have likely goofed around with the tone curve and the exposure a bit, but a lot of that is personal taste.
I'm particularly taken with how you were able to take such wonderful photos at a zoo. The national zoo here in DC is always so packed that attempting to set up a tripod would be an exercise in futility. Lucky enough just to get close to the glass without getting elbowed while trying to take a photo.

Thanks David , and as you and others have said RFF is different and I realize that. I for one have a broad appreciation of different photography styles even though they may not be my style . That being said , you never know when ones style or art might change . Growing up in Florida and Texas, most of all my time was spent outside hunting , fishing and camping, so goes my style . If I grew up on the streets of Chicago or New York and any other big city, I'm sure my style would be different . We obviously have a large amount of city dwellers here. Hence the abundance of street photography. My post is also trying to get a little different dialog going on here , it helps us learn a little about each other, and my make some new friends. As I have said before in this post I have not shared much about my photographic interest at RFF and this I hope helps . I am and have been a moderator at Fred Miranda .com ( Macro Forum ) since 03 but RFF has been my new home for several years now . Maybe my style is changing faster than I thought.

As a father offering his daughters the chance to get involved in photography (should they have an interest) as well, I love your daughter's shot.
Well done to both of you!

Thanks Jeff, I have three kids two have taken the interest in photography , my daughter being one of them, however at 16 she is being pulled to the male species and at this time does not know what a camera is . As Fathers all we can do is plant the seeds and hope they grow into something. Thanks for the reply and the kudo's for my daughter.
