my zoom squeaks...

i notice that the zoom squeeks when i ease off the shutter release...so i press half down to focus, then ease off if i don't shoot and that's when the squeek sounds off.

I wonder if it is due to aperture blades. I don't have my xp1 in front of me right now to check the sequence. But I think the blades close down to the desired f-stop during the later part of the half press when focus is confirmed. When u release it then should open up..

In any case, I suspect u don't hear the squeak because sound of shutter covering up the noise later.

i emailed fuji canada about my squeeky zoom...will update if/when they respond...

anyone else notice their zooms squeeking?
 
Is it a "cute" squeak or an "annoying" squeak - I can deal with cuteness.. not so much with annoying ;)

it's probably ok...my 'fear' is that something might wear out prematurely because of rubbing or lack of lube somewhere.
 
very interesting reply from fuji...i had to call but no matter...

they are aware of the issue and there is a firmware fix in the works, first he said soon but then...at the end of the conversation, he said to check the website tomorrow!
he also said not to quote him as someone from fuji!!
(my bad).

also, the 14 sounds like it will be here by the end of january...then a couple of lenses in march and the rest in september.
 
The 14 I knew about being mid/end of January.

This is why I appreciate Fuji - they at least are LISTENING to their customers :)
