MyPublisher photo book just arrived and I'm pleased.

I ordered a big hard-cover book of black and white portraits of folks from a Senior Center here in San Francisco using MyPublisher. I am very pleased with the results. The images are crisp and the tones reproduced nicely.

I've used MyPublisher for several small projects. I like the software but, like all of the book software I've seen, you are limited to a set of templates. The templates have worked for me so far. The only service I know about that lets you load up a pre-composed PDF is Lulu but I find their print quality for photo books to be inferior.

This book has a jacket and, like someone else mentioned about their Blurb book, the fold is a little off.

Another good thing about MyPublisher: Costco discount!

I was not aware of MyPublisher, and given my experience with Lulu print quality (and using the great G.W.B. tradition of not taking responsibility for their end product unless, of course, you give them credit for a good job done --by somebody else), this is very welcome information.

How much did it cost you, if I may ask?

15x11.5, 20 pages, with printed book jacket, was $51.56 after the discount. Shipping not included. This is the one I just received and it's HUGE, bigger than the other photography books I have on my coffee table.

11.25 x 8.75, 20 pages, with printed book jacket, is $27.80 after discount, shipping not included.

My publisher is the best I have tried

I am very satisfied with My Publisher but wanted to try Blurb, in case I am missing out on something. Got my Blurb book today and am very disappointed not just with the quality of the prints, but with the pages as well. Whereas My Publisher uses photo quality pages, Blurb pages feel like ordinary paper. 😡 No contest. This is comparing the standard size books from both companies. Good thing I only ordered a book with 20 pages to try before ordering a bigger book. I have also tried the iPhoto book and snapfish of similar sizes. iPhoto is not bad but I prefer My Publisher.

I also have the big My Publisher book, and that is even better.

endustry, I make photobooks for family vacations mainly, so I don't do anything special. For BW and color, I use sRGB and save in highest quality JPEG (the ones I tried cannot handle TIFF). For BW, I save in greyscale.

If you go to each company's website, they have a section on how to best save your images.
