Generally I stay away from this sort of silliness because it takes the whole obsession with gear a little too far ... but now and then you own a particular camera that just begs for a name!

I think someone officially called their M5 'Bigfoot' a while ago which I always thought was pretty appropriate and now having owned my 67ii Pentax for a few months I've decided to call it 'Shrek' ... for obvious reasons I guess! 😛

Just so I'm not alone in this folly can someone else join in and reveal their secret name for their most charismatic camera? 😱

Whoops ... I've just realised I've started this thread in RF Photograhy General Discussion and I've mentioned an 'evil' camera.

Sorry mods ... please move this thread if you feel it's inappropriate here.

Never named a camera, but give a shorthand description to each either by size or brand. As in "the big camera" for my 4x5 view camera, or "the Mamiya" for the Mamiya 6, etc. Nothing cute yet.

Everyone called my 1D MK IIN 'Big Bertha'

I named my '07 Miata 'Seether,' and people actually use the name when referring to it/her, haha

Bigfoot says "G'day" to Shrek. The Beast (Pentax 6x7) has been in my stable for awhile. Bubba (the second M5) was put up for adoption to make way for R2D2 (Canon 1D Mk III). The nameless Canon VI-T & Nikkor 5cm/1.4 are sitting here next to the keyboard. This pair needs to get out more.
I suppose there aren't enough names for all of my cameras. As it should be I reckon.
Welcome Shrek!

Wayne's naming his M5s "Bigfoot" and "Bubba" got me thinking about naming mine... And even though I came up with "La negrita" at the last minute, I don't think it packs the same punch as "Bubba," "Bigfoot," or "Shrek" so my M5 will remain nameless.

I do refer to my Nikon D700 occasionally as "The Beast" or "The Monster" though... But those names don't count. "Bessa-La-Fea," on the other hand... 😉 Quite clever!

It may parody Ugly Betty's Spanish title "Betty la fea" or may be understood as a command: "[You] kiss the ugly one!"

I had an F4S named Red. So called because I had a splotch of red paint on top so I could tell it apart from the other F4S (Blackie) in the bag- it was my most used F4. When I sold it my M7 sorta took over the name, as it became my main body, and I put the F4's strap (with red spots sewn on it) on the M7.

None of my other cameras have names- I just use the last three digits of the serial # to differentiate between them.

I had an F4 called 'Thumper' because I used it to knock out a guy who was trying to rob me. Actually, I still have it somewhere. My other F4 was called 'Sissy' because she never knocked anyone out.
