There seem to be a least four or five of us from North Carolina around here. We should at least get together once!!! I've met Bill Mattock a couple of times and he's met titrisol, but that's all the run-in's I know of.

Anyone game?

I'm Greensboro - 2 hours from Charlotte, 1.5 from Raleigh (1 hour to the west side, 3 hours to the north side :-/ Work in Durham a couple days a week usually. I'm up for something.

BUMP!!!
Let's find a place midway so we all can meet, is there the calssic car show in Hillborough next week??

I will be taking a vacation day tomorrow and driving to Greensboro, NC for a KofC convention for new officers. That's Fri, Sat, and Sun. Then home to Wilson Sunday night.

Next week is a busy one! I have my KofC meeting on Tuesday night, then a gallery opening (my photo contest entry, not 'my' gallery) at Wilson Arts Center Thursday night. I'm not sure what else is going on next week, but it is a busy one for me.

If I can't make it, ya'll go on without me, though. I'll catch up at some point!

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Looks like it's just the five of us. Where would be a good central place for us to meet up? Bill lives in Wilson, Titrisol in Raleigh, Xaos in Greensboro, Richard in Winston-Salem, & I'm in Clayton, which is near Raleigh. Looks like either Greensboro or Chapel Hill/Durham would be the most inbetween place.

What say you? There's some a botanical gardens in Chapel Hill as well as the Duke Gardens in Durham (Bill can attest to how nice this place is). Greensboro has some nice parks as well. The Guilford Courthouse Battleground Park was a favorite of mine when I lived there.

Of course, we might want to wait for the weather to cool down a bit before making any definite plans, cause it's TOO FREAKIN' HOT to make any outdoor plans right now.

Once it cools down, Hanging Rock and Pilot Mt (Mt Pilot for you mayberry fans) are just outside of Winston. I'm headed there this weekend - was going to just be a day hike, hoped to lug my new toy (RB67 yeah I know I'm crazy, might change my mind when it gets here) on some easy trails. Now it's a full blown camping trip with my bro's entire family, toddlers included, and even an XA might be too heavy for the ensuing death march.)

Duke, Carolina, and State all three have some neat campuses, which usually means a high density of things within walking distance - buildings, people, and food (everything except parking).

I'm still working on my personal schedule, should have things firmed up in a day or so, but you guys go ahead and put something together and Ann-Marie and I can try to make it work. If you have to wait for me to get my (##& together, it might be awhile...(grin).

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I'm pretty much free any weekend coming up. Since Richard doesn't mind coming to the Raleigh area, should we try for one of the gardens? That seems to be the general consenus.

Sounds great to me!
I'm tied for a ba-by-Q next saturday (8/6) though. maybe sunday?

It's freaking hot outside, had to walk a couple of blocks !

Either of those will work. I'm taking a friend to a wheelchair hockey game in Pikeville on the 13th. Should get some interesting photos from that!
