I've been trying to get a ND grad filter for my Tele-Elmar 135 (39mm mount) and 35mm Summilux (Series 6). Apparently, B+W dont have these?? Any other ideas.

Daniel.

PS. Got the first set of photos back for my 135mm. Theyre excellent, really love this lens. Smooooth bokeh. At f/4, the DOF is very shallow, about 1-2 inches for a tight crop. I now understand why Leica didnt bother making it faster.. a f/2.8 would be of limited utility.

Nowadays they only sell graduated filters from 49 mm upwards. They used to sell them, so yours must be old stock, Han. You might consider getting a step-up ring which will encroach the viewfinder. If you make a slit in the ring, you can judge the position of the filter through the viewfinder.

Thanks, thats a good idea. Would it be possible to get a E39 to Series 6 step up ? That way Id just buy one for the Summilux and use it on the 135mm.

If you have difficulties finding one any competent machine shop can make one for you.

Snaggs, were you looking for an ND filter or a "graduated" ND filter? I think the 35mm Summilux takes a series VII filter, if it is the same as mine. Also if you use a step up ring, besides intruding into the viewfinder, using a hood will be difficult as you would need an after market hood. Just curious, if it is a graduated ND filter you are looking for how would you orient it on a rangefinder without a Visoflex to actually see what it is doing?
