Came across this the other day. It should fit most cameras, and is an alternate to the wrist straps.

Check Epic Software at: http://www.epicsoftware.com/~epicsoft/estore/catalog/index.php

They have some interesting camera straps and bags, and a few other accessories that may prove useful to some of you fellow RFFers. 😎

one of my coworkers offered me one he bought for top dollar because the strap was to short for his DSLR.When I asked him why wouldnt he replace it with a longer he looked at me all puzzled and asked "can you do that?"

I am puzzled by the unability of some people to think outside the box or use tools(like their brain). The guy is a creative and talanted photog. He is 8 years older then me.I dont think he can use a screwdriver.

hairy arms and a freemason/college-graduation ring, eww... oops what was I meant to be looking at??

They look sweet, but I'm happy with my approach - if I need a case I'll cut a never-ready in half 😀

One of these came with the Nikon D70 I bought. The baseplate of the grip will dwarf most 35mm rangefinders, and the leather strap will let everyone know that you mean business, which may or may not be a good thing.

I think crisis photojournalists need these things so they can shoot one handed, or batter away other people with their 1Ds.

I ordered one for my M7.That thing is heavy and hard to hold. This should help a lot. Thanx.

Before anyone else orders one for their "M" body, consider this picture from the website below, notice where the strap connects to the bottom of the camera. It attaches to the tripod hole, compare that to the location on your bottom plate then consider the placement of your hand through the strap. Also notice the hard plastic that the knob is on, it is fitted for the bottom of a DSLR/SLR not an M camera.

Not to burst anyones bubble but I tried to make a very similar strap work on my M6 and couldn't make it fit, it's a good idea and a nice strap but not for an M camera, maybe it could be modified but I'm not sure I would trust a hacked up wrist strap on my camera.

good luck,
Todd

That's like the strap for the DMR...personally I think it is a bit of an overkill for an M body, but that's just me...

What's wrong with the old fashion way of just wrapping the strap around your wrist? If you need a longer over the shoulder strap, it's always there.

These purpose-made leather straps have one major benefit: they are absolutely secure. Wearing them involves lashing one or two straps so tightly that your palm sticks to the camera and your entire hand bears the weight of the camera body. In any situation where someone knocks into you, or tries to bat the camera out of your hand, the camera simply will not leave your palm or dangle.

Other alternatives...

Other alternatives...

I'm not sure it would fit a Leica any better but another alternative....

Personally (if I wanted one) I'd simply get a handstrap from B&H and take it with my camera to a local machine shop with a picture or sketch of what I wanted.

I really like this wrist strap with my D70. Just to give it a try I installed the base plate on my Bessa R and I will keep Gordy's.
