There is a neat chart about human vision - the visual field, where we are able to see things in detail, in which areas we can discern colour, where we can see polarization and so on - in yesterday's issue of the webcomic XKCD:

It would be neat to draw the fields of view for various lenses into it. It turns out that it's entirely unnatural physiologically to take colour pictures with a 21mm wideangle - because our eyes don't see colour in the edges anyway and all that only gets filled in by our brain.
