I've tried twice unsuccessfully to get the boys at CRR Luton to answer a question. They are either too busy to respond or their email is blocking mine. I wonder if someone in the UK could email or call them and find out the following: " I have a Model P w/ a dim, silver RF patch. Can you remove the prism and recoat it in gold? If so, what does this cost including insured, Royal mail back to me in So. Korea?"

If you get an answer could you PM me?

Many thanks,
Bill

Bill -
Just had a long conversation with Peter at CRR - he is a one man operation working from 8am-1:30am and has or had a lot of spam problems which is why he's not had a chance to reply to - if he even received - your email. He said he'd love to work on your camera but what exactly is it ? - we figured maybe a Canon ?
Can you fax him? On +44 (0) 1582 504214 and please keep in mind the time difference as he works from home and doesn't like being woken up in the middle of the night!
He can resurface the prism but it would be with vaporized aluminium not gold - thinks the original may have been done with copper - similar colour and would cost about £145 but you would need to discuss that with him also the method of shipping is important as the Gov't here see any camera coming into the EU from outside as NEW and ding you for as much import tax and VAT as possible.
Hope this is of help - it's helped me as I also have a Leica and knowing as many repair guys as possible is invaluable so thanks for that connection.
Ian
P.S. If you have any more problems PM me and I will try to help.

Ian:

Many thanks for your help!!!! It is indeed a Canon Model P, but the cost is prohibitive. I'll first try the far less expensive method of putting a yellow filter glass inside the RF window. If that doesn't work, I'll contact Peter by fax.
