Anyone got one of these in the loft, spares box, etc? The thread on mine has stripped, and I'd rather find a part from an old one that try to find one on an ebay cheapie, or buy a new grip/stock (there is one on ebay now, but thirty-odd quid I could spend on beer and women).

As you can see from the pic it's very wide to fit the grip, so ones off old flash brackets won't fit (I've tried).

Thanks,

Adrian

its an old post and I'm sure youve fixed it now. But my solution would be to get one of those 3/8 - 1/4 adaptors, widen the original screw thread a little then screw the adaptor into the hole, widen, try, widen, try. When it does go in put a little epoxy on the outer thread and screw it onto the hole.

I did this with a camera grip I made that required a tripod hole. To ensure the adaptor is 'square' in, use a tripod . Cover the threads in Vaseline then tighten it into the new thread before the glue sets completely. This will ensure its set properly and the Vaseline will prevent your tripod from sticking to the grip.
