Hi, all -

I bid my way into a nice Karat IV with Solagon last week. Have been cleaning and lubing everything, but the film advance hasn't been cocking the shutter. Thought I had the linkage fouled up when reinstalling the shutter, but figured out tonight that the collar on the cocking gear in the standard, a plastic little thing, was broken. Result is that whenever there's a load on that assembly, as there is when cocking the shutter, the collar slips and nothing happens. This is the second Karat I've bought with the same affliction. Not one to give up, I'm searching for a replacement gear, or at least, a stripped-out parts IV from which to harvest the part.

Anyone know of an Agfa guru who might have parts Karats lying around?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
this happened to my Karat after I put the lens/shutter back together after cleaning it. The trick is to match the gear of the shaft with the collar just so that the collar travels far enough to cock the shutter. You might get there by judiciously bending some parts of the cocking mechanism to bring them back to their original shape (but be careful every time you need to bend somthing!)
