Need an opinion

I am entering one of these two photos in the Louisiana tourism photo contest. The theme is Louisiana- a great place to live, work and play. They are of the University of La. @ monroe. Taken with the GSN and Velvia

Which do you like best

#2, I think #1 is possibly too cluttered, even tho I like the tree framing. Clear blue skies always seem to make us happy.

Second one. Whatever the thing in the water is in the first one, I find it really distracting.

Likewise, #2. Nice trees in the first, but too cluttered. Power lines are less obvious in #2.

The second one without doubt. However I'd crop the sky to just above the top of the tree to the far right. This gives a panoramic shot that includes all of the reflection in the water but crops out the, to my eyes, dull sky.

Thanks, all. I was leaning towards #2 for all the reasons stated. The bright red thing is a water ski jump ULM has a champion ski team

The second one. The first one just doesn't look natural to me.

The second looks clearer, also there many things that disturbs the view in number one, adding that reflections look much better in # 2...

No. 2 for the reasons stated above. That jump really draws the eye away from the university buildling. Now if you could get a shot of a guy in the air just post-jump....

#2, but I also agree that the shot needs to be cropped. There is just too much 'blank space' in the upper and mid right hand area of the shot. You can still see the ski jump but it isn't as noticable as in the first shot. The best aspect of the first one is the framing by the trees, but it is a bit too busy for my liking.

Don't you just love it! Ask for an opinion and get 7+. I vote for the 2nd one with the comments about cropping. Sound redundant all over again!

as far as a crop it must fit a 4x6 ratio but I will see what I can do and how it looks

I vote for #1, but for the contest #2, uncropped.
