Need help picking a scanner

Sorry to post yet another what scanner thread, but im in the market for one. There are so many scanners out there I thought I'd make a post here outlining what I need and see what you fine folks come up with.

My budget is 150-200 dollars. I hear there are some more than capable flatbeds in this range. This scanner is more for web usage than anything else since I wet print. I'm looking for something that can scan 35mm 120 (645, 6x6 and 6x7) and possibly some 4x5 down the road. I mainly shoot black and white, and I've heard that digital ICE wont work on it so if i can get more resolution in exchange for digital ICE software that would be great. As of now I have been looking at the Epson and Canon Canoscan options. Any input is greatly appreciated.

IMO - to meet your criteria....there's one word....EPSON!🙂

A refurbished Epson V500 or 4490 would be the best you can get for that money. These don't scan 4x5 though - but with luck and patience you might be able to find a used 4990 within your limit.

The canon 9950f is a very good scanner, if you can manage to find one used. Otherwise the Canon 8800f is also very good, but scans 120 format maximum

Being able to scan 4x5 is in no way a deal breaker, more of an afterthought than anything. Can these epsons scan 645 6x6 and 6x7?

I just ordered an Epson v300 (older model) from Amazon for $85.

By the time I need 4x5 scanning which is not a huge requirement, but a 'would be nice to have' for me, I will get another model, with better scanning capabilities for both 35mm and 4x5, also for much less.

Plus: Vuescan Pro is $79.95, so for just under the cost of a more costly scanner -- and very little extra bang-for-the-buck -- I've now got a decent 35mm scanner and software which makes its good scans into very good scans.

Same questions here, I need soemthing that can get up to 6x9 cms and in the near future 3,25x4,25 inch (8,2x10,4 cms)

Anybody got any experience with the Epson GT 7000? SCSI interface, but very impressive specs: 5100x7020 @ 600dpi 😱
Tech specs I can find, but no review... Anyone use this scanner before?

Other suggestions welcome as well! I like what specs I see from the Epsons 4490 and 4990, anyone got a 6x9 or larger scan from that?
