Need info about SLR in general

Hello everyone. I'm searching for info about slrs - their past, their development etc. Searched through google, but all i find is just the basic - the first slr, the after war period and then how nikon f changed everything. Things most of us know. I'm in need of some in depth writings if they exists

Try searching individual histories of the various manufacturers: Nikon, Canon, ...

Each will have a detailed history of their own cameras.

To be more precise i don't actually need info for certain cameras, but the slr concept in general .

See if you can get a copy of A History of the 35mm Still Camera, The Focal Press, 1984 or so, by yours truly.

For all formats, I think Ivor Matanle did a book on it, but I've never read it.

Matanle did a book called "Collecting and Using Classic SLRs", which is mainly about 35mm but does spend some time on medium format SLRs. It concentrates on those that are good cameras to use, rather than being a comprehensive history, and is a very good guide if you want to use antique cameras. I have it, and Matanle's other book, "Collecting and Using Classic Cameras."
