Hello all
I picked up the above lens on a revomendatiin from Leicatom.

It's an interesting piece with the de-coupling at 3' and ficus down to 1.5' (no metric scale markings).
After a few clicks with the rd1 I can see it is a look I have been searching for.

I don't know much about these lenses.
Can anyone tell me the scoop. SN 621523

There is slight Haze on the back element.
Also a wobble to the filter ring.
Can I get in through the mount side of the lens to clean up or will that ring need to be cleaned up first?

Bought this one for $150 maybe high maybe low. Not too much dough if I get that "look" I'm seeing so far.
Thanks

Try to hand-tighten the filter ring.

When you take the spanner ring off, the focus mount and lens barrel will separate, and the real elements can be taken off.

Roland.

My fault. WhAt I meant by wobble is the ring is bent out of round very slightly.
Enough to keep the retaining ring from being removed.
Thanks Roland. So it sounds like it can come easily open from the back.

There are tools for removing dents from filter rings. One looks like a bit like a vice.

The other is a block of wood with semicircle cut-outs of various sizes. You then use a wooden tool, which is rounded on one end, and a hammer to tap out the dent.

I've used both, and they're effective to a degree.

The front optics section comes out as a unit, use a rubber grommit (sp? hollow rubber cork). The rear module is very difficult to remove, and required a special tool. If the front filter ring is dented, you will probably have to straighten it to remove the front group. The haze is probably accessible once the front is off. My 1948 collapsible cleaned up in 10 minutes, was opaque.
