Need recomendation for good 3rd party battery company

Hi all,

I recently had a poor experience with 3rd party batteries I bought less then a year ago, they were not from a known brand.

As of today 1 battery is dead, it will not chage nor will it work. The second battery is charging allright but it only lasts for ~2.5 hours. (The original Epson battery is actually working fine)

Therefore I am asking you to recommend me a GOOD battery supplier\company based on your experience, it is important for me to know if you have the batteries for long, since mine was O.K for ~10 months and just recently stopped working.

Did you know that original Epson batteries are still available via Japan-based suppliers? The current R-D1x uses the same battery, so Epson continues to offer spares. They're expensive, but at least you know what you're getting.

You are right, they are expensive, way over-my-budget-for-battery expensive. Current price in Ebay is 79& !!! no way will I pay such amount for a buttery.

So, I am back to the square 1.
Does anyone have good 3rd party buttery to recomend ?

Hahnel HL-80 (or HL-F80). Been using them for 5+ years with my Epsons, not intensively though so i cannot guarantee that they are any better than the generic batteries i've been using as well.

I have a Fuji equivalent, and it charges and runs the same durations as the Epsons.

I have found unbranded cheapo batteries are a false economy. It's not just that they don't last as long; you may also experience strange operating faults as the battery runs down – things like blank frames etc.

The original Epson batteries seem to last very well, and I've a Uniross battery that also works faultlessly.

I have a CTA 3.7v, 1300mAh. Never had a problem with it. I think the Fuji batteries, though, are the way to go.

Japan Exposures (Megapearls) still have the OEM at Yen 6,900. I just ordered together with the 1.3N magnifier.

Gilpen - I am curious, how does the 1.3X magnifier work out for you? How do you like its clarity?

I suppose you're using it on your R-D1... but it longest focal length frameline is 50mm, and I didn't think a magnifier was necessary... So, what lens do you use the magnifier with?
