Need some insight with a Canonet GL17 GIII lens

The shutter speed ring on my Canonet QL17 GIII lens is loose. I looked at the parts manual illustrating an exploded Canonet lens drawing and I'm speculating some screws are loose holding things together.

So, skill testing question, how do I take a Canonet lens apart from the front without demolishing it to fix this problem?

did you try to go to the classic repair forum?

I would second the Classic Camera Repair Forum.

However, do some googling, as there are some instructions and diagrams out there.

You might also do some searches here as I know I've described my tribulations a few times.

Getting the front element out is easy assuming you have a lens spanner.

Getting the middle element group out may be a challenge.

When you get the lens assembly apart, yes, there are three screws which hold much of the ring assembly together.

to take the lens apart is not the problem - just stick to page 2 on the manual here: http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/repairmanuals.html
but the ring is moving something else (and i did not get so deep - just had to clean the shutter blades)

I've never had to tear one down like this, none have ever suffered the problem you describe. It gets nasty in there after taking off the first couple of layers.
