Need Some Recommendations For a $100 SLR.

There are a lot of great choices out there. This is where everyone can list the older slrs that they like. My vote is for a Nikon FE2 or FM. Light weight and reliable. FE2 has a titanium shutter 1/4000 sec top shutter speed. It can be used manual or in a auto aperture priority setting. Happy hunting. - jim
 
My votes are for:

Nikon FE2 or Olympus OM-2n - if you want aperture priority mode

Nikkormat FTn or FM or Olympus OM-1n - if you just want good ol' manual 35mm

I omitted the slightly better choices of the F2A, FM2n, OM-2s etc because I reckon they'll all be above $100
 
I would suggest looking at KEH. For $100, you can get a good camera with lens. The F3HP in "bgn" condition and 50/2 lens would be close. I bought a perfectly functioning F3HP from them for $90.

A Nikon N70 and others in that class are going for under $30 for a body. Lots to choose from.

Get something with a warranty, and returnable.
 
I bought Minolta srt 101, rokkor 58mm 1.4 and 35mm 2.8, original leather bags: small for the camera, lens-bag, and large Minolta bag with a Braun flash inside.

All that for 100 euro.

I've used the gear in every difficult weather, for self, for college, and for projects for other people. They have never failed me.

This is not kind of camera that you have specified in the beginning of the thread, but it might use you as a comparison in finding your camera.
 
I use the spotmatic F with glasses and no problems.... but okay...

Take a look at what lenses are available in your area. There use do be more M42 mount lenses available and then about a year ago they started to vanish.

FD lenses are still in good supply, even wides and of course Nikon lenses a plenty (but not too many wides for some reason).

If not Pentax Spotmatic, then I guess I would go the FD route because of the availability of lenses in my area...

agreed, right now im using an FS-1 with the 50 1.7 and 40 1.8 lenses. Cant be beat for price or performance.
