really?
beloved?
every time i see an ad that starts with the above line it gives me great pause...beloved?
maybe there is something lacking in me but i don't think i have ever 'beloved' any piece of gear that i have ever owned!
tell me, do you have a beloved?

Maybe. If I ever sell my Land Rover it will be "beloved", because it's been bound up with so many happy times in my life. I will cry if it has to go.

Cheers,

R.

My old, totally beat up Nikkor Auto HC 50 f/2 is the only piece of gear I catch my self calling "beloved" on the regular. It was the first lens my uncle bought for himself starting out as a photog (he went on to work as a pro for years). It's traveled the world with me, covered a couple stories I really cared about, and it's images are fantastic-looking. I try not to be too sentimental. But damn I like that lens.

My M6 is a heirloom from my late father. Probably could call that "beloved", mostly because of the sentimental value. Wont ever sell it though and even if I did, I wouldnt put "beloved" on the add because it sounds kinda cheesy 😛

Totally agree. I was thinking only of my personal reaction. Why should a stranger care?

Some cameras, I "love". Some cameras I don't click with and I "hate".

Sometimes I choose to sell (or trade) a camera that I "love".

Personally I probably wouldn't use the term "beloved" in an ad, but that's just a choice of words.

I don't see a problem here.

I sold my Suzuki GS500 a few weeks ago and if anything was 'beloved' that was it. I rode that bike to work over a thousand times without a problem but since I stopped commuting it just sat there looking sorry for itself. Sad to see it go but time for someone else to enjoy it.

Ouch! You're cold.

I would mourn the energy being destroyed, that went into the mining, fabricating, and assembling the camera. Some cameras, anyway.
