Negative not centered?

This is a common issue with screw mount Leicas before serial number 570xxx. The original FILCA cassette is slightly taller than the newer mass produced cassettes. As a result the shorter cassettes will drop slightly (approx 4mm) in the chamber..

Ugh, that sucks. Any easy way to correct this?

I have several pre-570xxx Leicas and don't see where it is an issue since the alignment does not cause a real issue. If however you want perfect alignment you'll need to get the FILCA cassettes and load your own film. Some people will make shims to raise up the cassette..

Starting with the IIIf 570xxx a bar was added to the bottom plate to hold the film in alignment as it came out of the cassette. But you will have to have the crate modified if you want to use this plate on the IIIc or early IIIf..

It's easy to correct. You just put some felt in the latch on the baseplate where it touches the cassette. Cut a little ring. You don't need glue, just press it into place.
