Netflix Photography Movie Recommendations

Netflix offers different content in different countries.

In the UK "McCullin" is a great documentary about a great photographer.

Anything by Mario Bava, a 60's/70's Italian horror film director who stated in cinematography: Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, Bay of Blood, Kill Baby Kill up on Netflix along with others

Ida is also available on Netflix -- haven't seen yet but is supposed to be amazing.

Though not on Netflix, this film, The Fifth Cord, I often go back to as an amazing work I cinematography. It pert much started multiple Oscar winner Vittorio Storaro's career. I think it's his best work. Full feature is up on Youtube:

Probably not on Netflix but you should try to find any of Andrey Zvyagintsev's films, The Return or The Banishment are both excellent.

I also echo the recommendation for McCullin and Bill Cunningham, New York. Bill Cunningham is more about fashion, but still a great documentary.

"Pecker", if on Netflix, gives an usual (and possibly realistic) take on the art world and the celebrity culture associated with it. An old rangefinder camera is prominent in the movie. It's a John Waters film so it may not be for everybody.

Great flick! Alas, type "Pecker" into the Netflix search box and you get Woody Woodpecker. Also enjoyable, but the cinematography leaves something to be desired...
