I have a noctilux and want to take a bunch of shots at f1 so I bought some Neutral Density filters. Does anyone know if the light meter on the Leica MP will read the correct exposure with the filter on the lens? I guess it boils down to whether the meter reads through the lens or around the lens.

Thanks for information in advance.

RTFM. Seriously.
The light meter on any of the metered Leicas (M5+) is straight through the lens. This is why there is that nice little white spot on one of the shutter curtains.

To answer your question: Yes, the Light Meter will effectively compensate through the ND filters.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does 'RTFM' stand for? 😕

Who would acquire an expensive item like an MP without even finding out how it meters? A collector, maybe? 😕

Wow, I hope I never ask a "stupid" question on this forum... Ease up, guys!
I think F/1.0 in broad daylight could be VERY cool. Bill, I hope you'll post the results.

I did not mean to imply that Bill's original question was stupid. It just seemed puzzling to me. Maybe my buying habits are unusual, but I like to know what I am buying before I pay for it.

Meter will comensate for ND filters or poloroid. Not correctly for colored filters

Every .3 density is one stop. .9 is three stops. 1.8 is six stops
