What's been so charming about this thread is that it's mostly been real. Things we've done, or could do, without ill-written fantasies or carping attacks. Even if it's something outside our own experience, such as flying light aircraft in my case, we can begin to share the joy.
Two days ago, I had an e-mail from some friends who live 600 miles away but dropped in this afternoon for a barbecue. So this morning, I went into Loudiun on the BMW, solo, to buy bread and salad ingredients. Frances and Aditi were still asleep. Much as I love to have either on the pillion, there's also a lot to be said for riding solo sometimes: the 'bike is faster and nimbler. It's one of my favourite roads in all the world, with twisties plus a short straight where I can easily top 100 mph. Today I hit 110. And it's a road I need to take just to go to the nearest supermarket. Blessed am I among men.
The meal was great. Barbecued leg of lamb; good bread; Greek salad. Just before we'd finished, Aditi's boyfriend called. They've been together 2 months today. She said she'd call him back after she'd finished her lamb, and she did. For an hour and a half. I was joyful for her. Both times. How could I not be? In six days, Frances and I will have been together 28 years. Andrew and Carole (the friends at the BBQ) have been together even longer.
Love is, indeed, what makes the world go 'round. I love Frances most of all, and Aditi next. But I also love Andrew and Carole. And (in a different way) my old BMW.
It's easy to be snide, joking, slick. Most people here haven't been. Thanks.
Love,
R.

Things are a bit wonky, my post ended up in front of Roger's, so I was searching to see that it was not double posted. I was informed by the software that I had to wait 30 seconds between searches, and to try again in 4842 seconds, -- now where is that calculator --
Roger, no one can top your post, good food, good wine, good friends, good God let's eat. No sacrilege intended of course.
Sante. Have no idea if this gets posted. ;-)
