If someone can walk into a camera shop these days and see/hold/consider a new black Leica M6 ttl, boxed with paperwork, a camera that has not been made for some time now, then it seems to me the shop is NOT in a hurry to sell it. Why would the shop sell it for anything less than $1700 now? Hard times? Taxes due? Maybe, but not likely. Nope, face it: $1700 for a new Leica M6ttl is a deal. Think not? Well, do an ebay search on historic selling prices for black M6ttl cameras...but do not forget to put "new" in your search. That should narrow things down quite a bit.

That was my supporting points for it originally. I see TTLs with rub marks and a mystery CLA go for almost $1400 on the regular.
Whether or not to do it is still a good side discussion just generally speaking... but like I said. Im think Im going with mix of price offers/gear trade in + impulse shopping 😀

If Leica will honor the Passport on the body then this is an acceptable price. If they honor the Passport it can also be extended to 5 years for $125 any time during the base 3 year coverage. I bought 2 ttl bodies as New Old Stock and Leica supports both of them without issue.
I enjoy the handling and function of the M6TTL and I struggle to understand the issues that many people have with them. I've used/handled M3's, M4's, M5's, M7's and MP's in the past and I haven't yet picked up on the comparative handling shortcomings of the M6TTL that make it a 2nd class citizen in the M body ranks. Then again I like the M5 as well so I must be missing something. I hope I don't find out what that is because I don't think I can afford it.
