I recently bought one of the new M mount 25/4P lenses. When used on my RD-1 I was really disappointed with the vignetting and overall performance both wide open and stopped down. However, I think the results with film (on the CLE) are really nice.

Here's an example with Fuji Reala 200:

Anyone else have impressions of this lens when it comes to film vs. digital performance?

Haven't got one. Want one. Hoping to get one for my Minolta CLE. Hanging back until Gandy has his free shipping offer.
The pic you posted looks pretty good. Look forward to more shots. Interesting that you found a difference between film & digital use. Maybe its the magnification factor that makes a difference. I'm no expert BTW. Anyone else got one?

Others have commented on this, including Sean reid who observed vignetting and other problems in his review of wide angle lenses on the R-D1. Altho the 28/1.9 performed well, the 25mm and slower 28mm both vignetted quite badly - a shame as these are both beautifully compact lenses.

On my 25mm/4, I noticed vignetting on film too, not a problem when stopped down; I liked its clarity and contrast on slides, but never got along with it for b/w work. Does make a very nifty combinaiton with the CL though, and doubltess the same with the CLE.

The vignetting is likely to be less of a problem on the M-8, I guess, as it has offset microlenses.

No experience with a digital (and not likely to be anytime soon), but on my M6 and Hexar this lens works very good. I just got it not long ago, but so far - looks like a great lens.

I find this lens to be extremely clean and sharp. No vignetting at all. It has become my main lens on my M8 for its compactness. It is just a bit below the performance of the ZM 25 Biogon. I find it strange that you get vignetting on your RD-1 and not on film.
