new 35/1.4 Nokton - WHERE TO BUY

Hmmm... Funny, but I can't seem to find it in the Adorama listings. All the other lenses are there.

yeah, I always try to link directly to the lens, but couldn't find it either, so I'm trusting it was a quote that BNF got by some other means, and they haven't updated the website yet.

@lemos - well you should make a note i suppose. mind you with shipping and insurance for intl shipments, your listed price would be pretty close.

For those of you who don't know it, both Adorama and B&H are grey market Voigtlander dealers. They don't have access to parts or repair manuals. Typically they get new Voigtlander products months after official Voigtlander dealers, and they usually have to charge more for it due the middle man taking their cut. I would not put too much faith in a price rumored, but not on the Adorama web site.

Call them.

It is in their databse, as is the hood, which is only $65.

I've got my invoice right in front of me! :)

Stephen,

Do you have any better idea when you might be getting your first shipment?

my 35/1.4's are in transit.

Checking tracking, they will probably arrive Sat. After organizing orders, I estimate shipping will start Tues of next week -- the 26th.

I have no affiliation with Stephen but I don't see why I would purchase from BH or Adorama just to save a few bucks, if any. These guys already make tons of money with DSLR sales, I'd rather support someone who is dedicated to rangefinder photography and owns a small business. But that's another debate maybe :)

I agree with you entirely! I wish shipping was lot easier

Stephan Gandy/CameraQuest is the way to go - he helps support this forum, provides a wealth of knowledge, and he's comitted to rangefinder photographers.

I too am not affiliated with Stephen, but have purchased a LOT of stuff from him over the years. Right now I am waiting on new CV SLII 58/1.4 F mount from him. You might find a better price somewhere, but you will NEVER find better service or a more honest upstanding guy. I have recommended a lot of folks buy from him and have never heard anything bad about the transaction.

Stephen has been at the top of my list for many moons. If he sells it, I buy it there. I have never been able to find a better price, but lets say I could save 8% on a lens going elsewhere. The headaches and cost of having to work through others for service would eat up that savings by the second day.

His prices are always aggressive and fair.

I've always found Stephen very easy to deal with.
Now I'm just hoping he gets enough of the lenses so that I can get my S.C. version in the first batch.

just got an e-mail from foto-mundus.de saying that they should have it in stock in 2 weeks.

Lemos, just one thing: be careful. Mundus' reputation in Germany is mixed. There were reports that they did not admit customer claims. Others reported that grey market imports from Mundus did not come in original packaging because they were not new but refurbished, used items though new merchandise was sold.

I do not know how much of that is true but there were many customers that reported this practice.

have heard the same rumors - but as said it was "heard by" not personal experience.
I have good experience with two Voigtländer dealers: Stephen Gandy (cameraquest) and fotopartner at Hamburg.

Apart from my own experience, which was very good I heard only one other, which was from a colleague sitting next to me. He made use of his return privilege for a backfocusing lens and after a nice, helpful phonecall with a knowledgeable person from them organizing the shipping back he had his money returned promptly.
Both were not Voigtländer items though.

I received a 35/1.4 from Mundus last thursday. They sent me the wrong one - MC, so I had to return it. I just hope they did not yet sell all the SC, so I would have to wait for the next shipment.
