new 35/2 some quick snaps

Got my 35/2 yesterday and took it out for a walk to my office and back.

In my favourite pub they put together new lamps and I wasted a roll of cheap ISO200 film and had it scanned at the minilab not far away.
I put up a gallery here Quick snaps with the 35/2
The shots are at F2 from 1/10 to 1/60, one is with fill flash.

The B/W pictures have to wait as I have to mix fresh chemicals first.

My first impression, it fits my needs more than the 28 or 45 which are either to wide or to narrow for my use.
 
I also bought a 35mm g lens last week, but still waiting to finish my 1st film. The lens is more compact than the 45mm and its field of view is more usable, which is what I really like about it.

Hard to tell anything about sharpness at such small size, but exposure, contrast, and color look excellent! I agree that this is quite a comfortable lens to use.
 
Yes, sharpness. Those are just the medium size scans from the lab. Exposure is part due to the film and lab and part to me, I shot with +1/3 to +2/3 to adjust to the bright windows and left the rest to the film lattitude.

Focus is due to the camera, the G2s AF is amazing.

I still haven't mixed new chemicals, I shot one roll Tri-X around F5.6 - F8 on the street and at F2 indoors which I will develope in Tetenal Ultrafine Plus tomorrow. This should give a good impression of what this lens can do as a street shooter.
 
I messed up developing a bit, there is some more grain than I expected.

I like the first one, Socke! Very rich tonality. But this is not shared by the second pic as presented... I captured a copy of that photo to my computer and looked at it with my editing program. If you move the left control of the histogram to the right a ways it darkens the lower tones for a nice improvement, IMHO. :)
 
The bicycle shot is very nice. I couldn't see much grain until I saw the larger picture. What do you reckon you did wrong during development? Maybe the tonality Doug mentions is because of the nature of the light in the second picture? Is it not harsher? Or does it look like that because the woman is shading her eyes? Am I right in believing that softer light will allow more tonality (in that there is a good range of midtones)?
 
I'm not sure what I did wrong. I probably messed up the dilution or my developer was too old.

Overexposing two rolls seems improbable, I had the camera in AE after all :)

Same for overdeveloping, I have a Jobo 2400 daylight tank which takes only one roll and the timer on my watch is still on five minutes.

Doug, feel free to post your version, I'm upgrading my desktop to Windows XP at the moment and have nothing than ACDSee 6 on my Notebook.
