They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that a new version of the Konica-Minolta 5400 scanner is now out. (The 5400 is one I'm considering, assuming I really wanna get a film scanner.)
Anybody know any information, like what Latest And Greatest<tm> features it has which makes it worth more?
Also, any thoughts about trying to pick up one of the older 5400s at a closeout?

check out PN, there are suprisingly many threads about it already, seems to generate a lot of interest.
In short:
The 5400 II adds ICE4 and should be somewhat faster, but is it also capable of producing the same high quality B/W scans as the 5400?
From all the threads on PN discussing this it is most probably not, and since I am in the market for one myself, I'll be getting the "old" 5400 ASAP.
btw. minolta will apparently continue producing the 5400 alongside with the 5400 II, which I understand is like a billboard flashing "get the old one for your silver based negs!" is it?
