I stopped using my Domke 803 because the ballistic nylon wore a hole in a very expensive shell (jacket), and also because when it begins to wear it gets ugly. Originally I bought this bag for its durability, but its showing some wear and is getting ugly. LOL.

Frank, I have the J803, and while on paper it seems ideal, I've found it a bit heavy (> 2lbs) and a bit tight as an EDC (every day carry) bag with computer space tight, along with a camera.

The bag does hold 2-3 RF bodies and a bunch of lenses, but I can't see really traveling or carrying that much stuff around at once very often. The 13" macs are a tight fit in the sleeve pocket, but an ipad or kindle would fit nicely.

The center section is likely going to be sectioned off for bodies/lenses, the pockets hold RF lenses easily, and the strap is much heavier than the f5xb one for example.

I like the bag a lot, but have to admit, I rarely use it. If I'm carrying that much stuff loaded, I'm likely to either use 2 smaller bags, or a backpack for comfort and even more room.

Recently my girlfriend got a Louie Vitton tote after getting a LV 35 "Speedy," and it was her idea to get a nice book bag to use for my cameras because I would use it everyday, especially because I walk to work in Manhattan (about 4 1/4 miles round trip), and every weekend I go shooting.

Anyways I got a LV Shawnee leather book bag that almost costs as much as a month's rent. Already it is breaking in and getting more comfortable. I imagine over the decades it will get a very nice patina because the leather is untreated.

Now I know this is crazy, this is obsession on a new level, but its the most comfortable bag I've ever had.

Could anyone make a link from the Louis Vitton Site. My bag is called the Shawnee. Sorry I'm digitally inept.

I got the black one that really is a very-very dark grey. I use the lens insert from my Domke 803 and a side pocket insert from a Domke J1 to protect two cameras.

Its narrower than my Domke 803, but I can fit two rigged Leicas even with one body with my 75 Lux mounted, and even though both my M6's feature TA Rapidgrips and TA Rapidwinders.

Also can substitute a Rollei 3.5F in place of my M6 0.85 with 75 Lux.

Already spoiled by the comfort. My justification for the great expense is that photography is part of my every day life, and I generally have at least one camera on me all the time.

Paul,

I paid crazy money and bought my bag on 5th Ave and 57th Street. Like I said: I almost paid a month's rent for a Manhattan apartment.

All around NYC I see fake Louis Vitton bags. The big giveaway is how the knock-offs wear and age. The extreame quality that will make a real LV bag last decades is just not there.

The real ones get this patina as they age that is kinda beautiful. Sweat, oil and age really changes the bag. The bag really becomes part of you in time.

Interesting side note is that I use to escort my girlfriend through these places in Chinatown where you would be taken by a guide into back alleys and through stores and led into hidden dens behind false walls to buy contraband luxury handbags.

Anyways I'm counting on having this bag a long-long time.

people want used bags for cheap but the shipping is usually pretty high...not worth selling except for locally.

Thanks for the linking.

Its kinda like wearing an expensive watch: I'll use it every day hopefully for decades, but not really appropriate for some of those remote, sketchy, uninhabited, industrial areas I kinda frequent with John above, although we were in Bushwick and Masbeth just last weekend with my new bag.

BTW the comfort of this bag is no exaggeration.

I thought the same as you ampguy. So many here raved about the 803 I thought it would become my ideal bag too. Although I kept it for a while I was quite disappointed with it and sold it. I also thought the BBBE, would be 'the one' but it doesn't take my iPad 3 in the rear pocket.

I have a Hadley which is good but a little big sometimes. I tried the Hadley Small but found it just that, small and boxy.
What I would like, if they would ever produce one, is a Billingham but with the slim profile of the 803 or BBBE.

Hello Joe, I am not so sure about that, I bought an F-803 bag off of a member here about 2 years ago who lives in the states, I forget who it was but he is a long time rff member and a frequent seller on this site and he was willing to send it to me in Bangkok while my father sent him a money order from the states (very cool of him)........the condition of the bag was ex+ and it came with an extra insert......I saved a lot of money by buying it off of him than if I would, If I had bought that same bag here in Bangkok.......


That said, whenever I go back to the states I usually purchase Domke bags because they are much cheaper there than they are here in Bangkok.....

As far as bags go, I use a Domke F-6 whenever I travel and it holds my entire kit quite well, and if I decide to go "light" I use my 5-xb bag.......

but to be honest, when I go out to take photos, my camera is not in a bag, it is in my hand and ready to shoot.....the bags serve mostly as a transportation device......if I am carrying a camera with me, it is usually in my hands and not in a bag...but everybody is different......

same here, the camera is in my hand until i am heading home.
as to shipping cost, i sometimes wonder if canada has a higher rate than the states. if i ship within canada it is way cheaper than shipping elsewhere in the world.

paul, take a look at the tamrac rally 5...it holds my ipad (the original), my 2 rd1 bodies with lenses attached and my 3rd lens plus cards, media cards, phone etc. and its cheap compared to most other bags.
