hello everyone,

I just received my first canonet 17 yesterday, the body looks good, but I couldn't get it to to work properly, the camera keep winding but the shutter refused to click, the I pushed the timer up and it just stuck there. I tried to put the cris-cam adaptor with the sr=44 (little bit tide). but the test lamp does not lid up. Please help, is this camera suppose to work w/o battery (except "A" mode of course)?

Thanks in advance

Henry

Yes, it will work in the manual mode without a battery.

The film has to be wound for the shutter to fire.

Mine was jammed when I got it, refused to fire. Cleaning with Ronsonol got it working and it's worked fine ever since. {knocking on wood}

Shutter blades are stuck. You should not have set the timer.
The lens will have to be removed and the blades cleaned.
