Hi folks,
Having been a digital photographer (Canon DRebel) for the past three years I thought I should try to see what it is like to be on the side of film. Since I couldn't afford a nice, new film camera I did a bit of research on the net and found information on the Canonet QL17 GIII and decided this was the camera for me. Found one on Ebay in prime condition and payed only $58 (shipping included). I think this has been by far one of the best investments I've made into my arsenal of photographic equipment. I absolutely love this little camera. These scans, which don't do the prints justice, really, were shot from a test roll of ordinary Kodak 400 b/w film (the kind that doesn't use b/w chemicals for developing), and developed at Walgreens 1 hour photo services (yes, that's right, I was trying to see how the camera fared under non-professional developing conditions). I was surprisingly pleased with most of my first set of prints. I now have a roll of 36 exp. Ilford PANF 50 in my camera and have about 6 shots left before I develop them. Can't wait to see how these turn out using professional developing services. Anyhow, hope you enjoy these three photos from my hometown of Banning, CA (just west of Palm Springs), and please feel free to provide any critique you think necessary.
