New Case Options for Olympus 35 sp?

Hello Everyone,

I'm thinking about getting a case for my Olympus 35 sp and have seen a few vintage ones go for more money than I'd like to pay on e-bay. Especially considering the condition (from the pictures) of the interior(s) of those 30 year old cases.

Does anyone have any recommendations for possible new cases? I've been using a spare ever-ready case for a K1000 (I covered the tripod screw with layers of gaffer tape) and it's not that bad as I can keep the hood (an old Pen F hood Andrew Yue suggested - thanks for the advice) I've got screwed on the camera.

Not that it matters, but I don't have to worry about wearing down the battery b/c the meter doesn't work (any advice on a place to get that fixed would also be greatly appreciated - I tried Essex but they said they couldn't get parts), so the case is just for padding and protection.

Andrew...what oly sp??? The one you will get from taffer? Or, you got another one?

In the interim, try using a Lowepro Z-30 belt pouch. They're about 10 bucks at Best Buy. For an even roomier fit, there is the Lowepro Z-40. It's about $18.00, plus shipping and handling from B&H Photo.

These are rather attractive cases, when they are black. They hold up well and keep the camera at the ready. I use a wrist strap, as it is easier to stow and provides plenty of security while the camera is in use.

Hi Pherdinand and Solinar,

I haven't recieved the spn yet, though Taffer has raved about the yashica and has the oly packed up for the post tomorrow. The oly sp I'm trying to find a case for is the one I've had for a while - non-working meter and no case. The spn is en route from taffer, and I'm eagerly looking forward to it's arrival - I'll definitely let you know when it's here.

Andrew, thanks for your advice once again - you've got my vote for the guru of the olympus rangefinder cameras. I'll look for the case at the local best buy. If I can figure out a place to get it fixed, then I'll have two (I sense a collection beginning, and my wife cringing) ... I feel like a glutton.
