Lomo and Holga are complete different story.
If packged w fancy stuff, cut the production in half. Holga sells for $250, then it'll be like Lomo.

JG-50 (Jien-guo, or Country established, in this case 1949. PR China's 50 ys old in 99), Yasuhara are for souvenir purposes, or perceive them as expensive 35mm Holga.

lots of 205 variations, the 50 2.8 did made it to a LTM mt. I have a Phenix( this is the right spelling) 205 BS. Do not change the shutter speed before cocking the advance lever! meter failed soon after I bought it. Only shot a total of one roll of Fuji 200. This is no made in Taiwan Canonet G-III.

Hey, if you like Holga's and Diana's, you got to try an Isolette RF 6x6 folder. Got a pristine example for $45 on the auction site. Sharp 85mm/4.5 Solinar lens w/ Compur -Rapid shutter, multi-coated. Weighs and folds into nothing. Easy to carry in my Domke satchel's front pocket. Loaded w/ FP-4 120.

The idea of carrying my M6 and a 6x6 in a light situation opens many opportunities.

Does Phoenix manufacture anything? I know that Cosina is one of their suppliers in their camera division. Chinon was another in the past, but I don't believe that is the case any more.

I think that if you scratch beneath the surface, you'll find that Bruan has the same lineage.

Chinon is now Kodak, all Chinon buildings are re-signed Kodak in Japan, digital products.

Exactly - a lot of rebranded cameras seem to originate with Phenix, who are also described by their UK importer as "the Far East's largest lens manufacturer".

If a FED is worth 50 bucks this Chinese Junk and I dont mean the boat is worth maybe 10 bucks and will make a ugly paperweight. Nothing like a metal camera full of plastic parts made from melted plastic trash. I wont waste the thread giving examples but if you dont believe me go ahead and spend some money and learn.

In my experience, most Lomo lovers only care about the wrong kind of "image".

but isn't "crap" and its definition in the eye of the beholder? or "one man's trash is another man's treasure". etc, etc.

Jocko, if the price for let's say 100 cameras is good, we could suggest RFF to get 100 or so, have them engraved as RFF member's cameras (possibly by the manufacturer) and sell them making some (reasonable ) profit.
I would buy a LTM RFF camera!

In what way is an Isolette (even one with an Agnar lens) at all similar to a Holga or Diana? The Isolettes are excellent cameras with great optics, albeit uncoated in many situations. The Apotar and especially the Solinar lenses are fantastic.

I like Holgas myself, but they are entirely different animals.

agreed. But personaly I wouldn't waste my time w/ a Holga or Diana. wouldn't even buy one for my kid. Basically, what I was inferring was to dump the plastic trash as Bryan Lee said and get something worth the effort and the cost of film.

yeah...this is just getting silly. "worth the effort and cost of film"?!?! that is a ridiculous statement.

i have some shots i LOVE taken w/ a holga. and they are very fun to use (and well worth my effort, thank you very much). load it, tape it up to avoid light leaks and throw it in the backpack. each one has a personality, and if you find one that has some abberations you like...hold on to it.

Have to agree here. One "holiday" in Mongolia I only brought a Holga and my Eos. The Holga was so much fun to use and so out of the ordinary that I could carry it anywhere without people seriously thinking I was taking photos. I even took it to the black market in UB, a place where I personally wouldn't even dare to bring my money for fear of it being stolen (which happened to me before and seems to happen on a regular basis to locals as well) and a wood market where people simply don't like their photos taken. Mongolians being rough, tough and strong, I usually respect their feelings in these places. With the Holga it didn't matter one bit as no-one was taking the Holga serious. 🙂 I just shouldn't have loaded iso400 film in it. That's too much in bright and sunny Mongolia.
