To infinity and beyond!
I originally posted this over in the DIY section, but want to get some opinions from the folks in here who may not frequent that area.
I made this camera strap for my Electro 35 GSN. It is not adjustable, but it is custom fit to the length I like. I like to carry my camera with the strap across my chest and do not need to take my arm out of the strap to bring the camera up. It is extremely light, very UV stable, does not absorb water, and chemically stable. 39 1/2 inches including rings. (100.33cm)
It is Vectran 12-strand braid line I use on my race boats, terminated with a Mobius Brummel eye splice at each end with long tapered tails burried neatly. Shoulder pad is just a scrap of leather I had around.
Let me know what you think!

I loved learning about the Moebius Brummel. Not a splicer or sailor meself, but may learn the brummel simply to have at least one camera I can sling like yours.
I imagine others might like this, were you inclined to offer it at a sensible price where they do the measuring/provide preferred lengths. It's a cottage industry model for someone, certainly--there are a lot of strap-o-philes out there.
On a related note, my favorite (manufactured) long strap is the Luma I got from Rogier/RFF. Adjustable, slings over shoulder/across chest/beneath either arm. I can wear it inside a raincoat or overcoat, bring it out/up quickly. It has quick releases for the tripod bushing and on the strap. The only weak point is the tripod connection, which can gradually loosen, so part of my drill is to check its tightness whenever I sling it. But I use old Canon tripod wrist-straps on other cameras, so it's a drill I'm used to.

The Mobius Brummel splice is handy because you only need one end to do it, where a standard brummel uses both ends. Functionally, they are the same thing. With some attention to detail, you can use the standard brummel on a strap like this.
I would be open to inquiries for straps like this in various material lines, as the Vectran costs me well over $1.00/foot I could find other suitable materials for less. I have been thinking about doing one with paracord, but have to experiment a bit with the splicing.
I have only used optech suspensions straps for ever and thought it would look strange on a camera such as this, but I needed a light easy to move strap for when on my bicycle with the camera. So I'm not too well versed in what straps are offered or what they are like.
Creativity is alive and well in the strap world. Nice job.
Thank you very much!

Thanx everyone!
Muddy, that is a great solution! Part of the paracord strap design I'm thinking of will use a flat braid in the middle for a shoulder pad, but I still need to work out the splices at the end. I much prefer the cleaner look of spliced ends, even if just a reeving splice, over the knots, but the knots do work to keep the rings off the camera body. Well done, indeed.

Thanks for your comments, Xander.
For some reason I couldn't post a reply in the last couple of days.

I'm curious to know if the shoulder pad stays on your shoulder. When I sling a strap having a shoulder pad and use it like you do, shooting from sling position, I find the shoulder pad moves and settles in all places other than my shoulder! Nice finishing of the rope though, not something I've seen done. Looks good.

This shoulder pad is actually quite heavy leather and grips the line rather well. It does not slide on its own. So when I swing the camera up the shoulder pad slides around my back. Pretty much stays put on the strap where I put it.
