Joe, I did read it. It wasn't hard. To me, "...the talk is..." is idle speculation, pure and simple. Unless a source is quoted or named, this is just rumour-mongering. I'll leave you to it.

No info here but given the success of the M8 and the rumors about a Nikon (D)RF ... Why not ? I liked the RD-1s (except for its VF). 🙂

There are already several working prototypes. Numerous credible people have seen them.
Nikon is a company which has traditional ties to the past and company pride might play a part in it.
It might be a modest to a fairly strong commercial success for a large niche market.

Ooh, please give more info. I know Stephen Gandy mentioned he'd heard talk of a prototype. Any hard evidence to stimulate my wishful thinking would be appreciated.

But will the Nikon excuses disappear as well? At least they reversed their "nobody wants a full-frame sensor" policy.
They'd have to either develop a new, exciting rangefinder *and* tack on a full-frame or close-to-full-frame (e.g. 1.1x "crop factor") sensor *and* a quiet, high-speed shutter *and* use of the M-mount, or plagiarize somebody else's solution, which appears to be the Canikon tradition.

Well, the filters, that's a bit of a sore point.
But yes: add a GPS navigator, autofocus, and ESP-enabled power switch (it'll turn itself on in -3 seconds, predicting when you're ready for that Decisive Moment).

I can not see Nikon doing a new RF. They would have to design new glass also, since many people would not have old RF Nikon glass. I do not think they would make an M mount camera. Why give the lens sales to someone else? It does not make sense.
I doubt anyone oher than Leica will ever put out a digital RF. The market is very small. The 14,000 M8's sold are nothing to a company like Nikon or Canon. Cosina may think about it but the R&D recoup per camera would put the price up there with the M8.
The thought of a full frame RF or a $2000 digital RF are just pipedreams.
