The new firmware is no help at all for the CV 21mm Skopar. Vignetting better, wide open a fraction better but you can still see a red edge, stop down to a sensible everyday aperture like f5.6 and an appalling band of red appears up the left hand side of the image. Auto coded at the moment as a 21mm f2.8 other manually entered codes make no difference.

So, what this boils down to is a black list, - æhum, red list, of lenses that do produce the Italian Flag?

Yeah my ZM 18 has gone from being unusable to nearly perfect. I am a happy camper! I was about to sell this lens because I couldn't use it on the M9!

I have only three wide angle lenses: The WATE - which was perfect and without any traces of the Italian Flag even before the upgrade. A 35 mm 2,0 Cron: Which also has performed exemplary. The only lens in my bag that produces a Italian Flag is my old uncoupled VC 15.
I cant' go to Solms and bang my fist in the counter and demand my M9 fixed for that, can I...?

Please mind: This Italain flag Issue is not an issue on M8! You M8 users will have no problem with red edges. Because the crop factor cuts them away. Nice, he?

Does anyone know why I can't copy the new firmware update to my SD card? I keep getting a message"that the card cannot be modified". I never had this problem with my M8. I formatted the SD card in the camera, fresh battery, but cannot save the new firmware to the card. I am using SanDisk Extreme 4GB cards.

A reader. It is something in my preferences, I am on a MAc, and I cannot find it. It is only allowing me to read the SD card, not copy anything to it. I just don't know what to look under. I'll do a Google.

The lock switch isn't on is it?

Could it be this little switch on the card? Not sure if this prevents formatting as well, so it might be wrong, but it is worth a try.

No. Lock is off. For some reason, all my SD cards, from different cameras as well, are all "read only". I can't copy anything to them. I Googled, but can't find a fix.

I searched, and it seems that a lot of people have been having this problem. From what I can tell, it may be a hardware problem, my SD card reader. I know it is not my motherboard. I am away for the weekend, but I will pick up another next week and see if this solves the problem.

I have a MacBook Pro with the SD reader on the side and it worked fine. It could be the interface of the card reader to the USB.
As suggested above, have you checked info to see if the card is software locked?

It is my SD card reader. I found an extra and it now works fine. SD card now reads/writes. Just updated M9 firmware.

The best camera is one that still works!

I was having some weird problems a while ago and it turned out to be my card reader. Annoying because it tends to be the last thing you suspect.

Strange no? I read many posts on the net and it was worth the try. I knew I was having problems with that card reader, but I didn't know it could prevent you from writing to a SD card as well.
