I was searching through my system preferences. I thought maybe something got "unchecked". I tried reformatting the card in my computer as well.

Corroding tank M9 35 ASPH
Is anyone getting overexposure with the new firmware? I had to do some shooting today and didn't even think to test it and all the images were about 1 stop over. I haven't had this problem with the M9 before. This was with a 50 summicron pre current and a 90 Summicron pre asph.

I can't seem to access the file - every time I download it, I cannot unzip it (won't recognize .upd files), and the icon is a grey screen with 'exec' in the upper left corner. What am I doing wrong????

When you update firmware do you need to create new Cornerfix profiles? Seems like you might.

It is already unzipped!! I have made that error once also. Just drag it to the card!

Be careful, boys. This might give Digilloyd another excuse to thrash the M9 because "it needs all those firmware updates."

Thanks Double Negative: very helpful.
Ben, yes. Since the colorization and vignetting are now different for both coded and uncoded leness, the profiles will need to be updated.
You'd think an uncoded (and therefore "uncorrected") lens would remain the same, but it seems there's a generic improvement in this firmware as well - I found this out with the 4/21 Color Skopar, which I had been using uncoded for correction via CornerFix.

The new firmware is no help at all for the CV 21mm Skopar. Vignetting better, wide open a fraction better but you can still see a red edge, stop down to a sensible everyday aperture like f5.6 and an appalling band of red appears up the left hand side of the image. Auto coded at the moment as a 21mm f2.8 other manually entered codes make no difference.
Steve
I seem to recall way back when, a lot of people were reporting some fairly wide sample variations in the 21 Skopar, mainly in terms of corner vignetting. So perhaps that's an explanation for varying results with the M9 firmware.
My 21/4 is a screw-mount, and always performed with minimal vignetting. I'm not seeing any huge improvement with the new firmware, to my taste it still is better shot uncoded and run through Cornerfix.
Apertures don't make as much difference as ISO. Above about 320, this lens still has significant red-edge and it gets worse from there. The previous firmware corrected mine adequately at 160.
What's more irritating to me is that the 21/2.8 pre-ASPH still isn't completely corrected. They went too far the other way, now mine has a little greenish at one edge where it used to be reddish.

The .upd file is the update file, not the zipped file. A zipped file ends in .zip; .upd is not a standard extension, so a generic icon assigned by your OS will show.

Careful, you complaining about his complaining means you don't like progress.

Anyone tried Zeiss Biogon 21/4.5?

Lots of vignetting/red edge with the M9. In fact Tony Rose's site contains an explicit warning about this. Am testing a Cornerfix fix this weekend. The ZM 21/2.8 is not nearly as bad.

FWIW, the new firmware I uploaded makes the C/V 21/4 , 24/4 and the Zeiss 21/2.8 quite usable on the M9 without the need for Cornerfix (mostly). The 21/4.5 still needs some help though. I just ran some quick test shots with the following lenses wide open.
C/V 15/4.5 (M-mount, LTM 2 samples, identical result. Still needs cornerfix)
C/V 21/4 (fine) !!
C/V 24/4 (fine) !!
ZM 21/2.8 (a _very_ little green edge-I shot a white wall in the shade o/w hard to notice. In general, I will not be correcting this)
ZM 21/4.5 (still needs cornerfix)
ZM 25/2.8 (fine)
Leica 28/2.8 (fine)
Leica 35/2 v. IV (fine)
ZM 35/2 (fine)
ZM 35/2.8 (fine)
Both vignetting and red-edge appear _very_ well controlled. I know that some have had issues with the firmware update but mine went very smoothly, and I have to say, the camera is much more useful with these wides. Leica gets a very big thumbs up from me for the improvement. Loved the camera before. Over the moon about just using the wides.

For "uncorrected" lenses, does that mean that the lens type is set to "automatic" and is "uncorrected" because the lens is not coded?
Or are you setting the CV 21/f4, for example, to a Leica equivalent with the manual setting?
Sorry to be a bit thick here....
