New Firmware now available!

No mention of SDHC though :(. Not much info in the release notes, as usual.

Now every time you turn it on the LCD screen says
"Upgrade to M8-v2.0 for only €1200!"

Ok, that last bit was just a joke, alright!

You forgot the fine print underneath that says "price adjustable according to dollar to euro exchange ratio"
 
No menu mambo, perfect reviewing, good AWB (so far) AND now I get thumbnail views on my DNG's in Vista!

Yes I can also say that under tungsten (the blight of my life) AWB is very good. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to test daylight AWB .. so far so goooooood.
 
Just updated my firmware. First time for me since I just got the M8 last week. Very easy to do. Took all of 5 minutes. I can't say if awb is improved or not since I have so little shutter time with the M8 to compare it too. Shot some quick inside shots of my house with awb and it looked great to me.

AWB algorithm improvement seems to be the main purpose of firmware 1.201, and that should please those who have been critical of the previous performance of this feature.

They didn't claim any change in DNG but interesting that Andy reports display imrovement!
 
Another impressed user here, I've been trying things I knew the old firmware would not be able to handle and so far so good.
 
My M8 is off to Solms (red line) so I have no chance of checking out the new software up date. But from what I hear, it is a major improvement.

Sorry to hear about your M8
Id be very tempted to offer to beta test the new quiet shutter for no extra costs!
Hope your M8 is back soon. (My repair was turned arounf in 5 weeks including the Christmas period).
The AWB really does seem much better to me. No other changes

I got my 1.201 update Thursday and that night used it at an elementary school concert in which my neighbors' kids participated. The WB was quite good, but of equal interest was that I shot at ISI 2500 with my 135/2.8 wide open and got a less-noisy resultthat I had anticipated. Am I imagining an improvement here?
