Just created are SIXTEEN new forums. Two exising forums were renamed to better fit in with the newbies.

In 35mm Rangefinders:

Leica Screw Mount Copies: until the early 60's a major part of the camera industry tried to turn out a lower cost Leica copy, including but not limited to Canon, Nicca, Leotax and Honor, as described in glorious detail in the 300 Leica Copies Book

Argus is often over looked, but the American made Argus C-3 was probably the most successful rangefinder of all time, with over 3 million produced!

Fixed Lens Rangefinders are an important part of the RF community. My own favorites of this group are the compact fast lensed gems like the Olympus RD, Konica S-3, and Canon GIII-QL.

Kodak Retina have long had a reputation as relatively inexpensive cameras with great lenses.

The Xpan/Fuji Forum was renamed to Xpan Fever. A 35 Panoramic forum was added to cover the non Xpan crowd.

Scale Focus 35's include the very popular Rollei 35's, Petri 35's, and the Olympus XA-4.

Half Frame cameras that give 72 instead of 36 shots on a roll hold a facination to many. The Olympus Pen's were the most successful. Though an SLR, the Pen F and FT have long been admired by RF shooters for their compact size and lenses.

The Medium Format RF section is renamed to "Bigger than 35" Forum

The previous Medium Format RF is now renamed to 120 RF's.

New forums are Mamiya 6, Mamiya 7, 120 RF Folders, 120 Stereo, 120 Panoramics, Large Format RF, Large Format Panormics, and Hand Made Cameras.

The newest RFF link is NHS -- the Nikon Historical Society. It was founded by my friend Bob Rotoloni, who wrote the Nikon Rangefinder Camera book -- an absolute must have for Nikon RF nutz. I happen to be one of the original NHS members, strangely enough from even before it was founded. That was possible because I was a member of the previous organization which evolved into NHS.

You also might have noticed that the long missing Nikon forum is once again on the RFF home page, and that the order of the forums has been changed.

No startling changes here, but hopefully evolutionary improvements.

right off the bat, CHANGES:bang: and to top it off using personal contacts to ah....Improve the site:eek:

Very cool Stephen, very cool

Hey, as long as you don't delete the Leica M forum I have no qualms!
but as long as you have a NHS link why not throw in a LHSA link aswell?

Would someone please fix the new bartender's gallery link?

The Zeiss Historica should be something very huge and interesting for me. But I don't get the intention: Just by being RFF members we will have access ?

Cheers,
Ruben

I am not promising anything, no arrangements are set yet with any Historical Society, and nothing may actually work out. But I do like the idea.

don't change the channel,
stay tuned with popcorn and beer.

time will tell.

Thanks Stephen for the fixed lens section , now I can go on and on about my wonderful AKA Arette 1c:rolleyes:
Seriously though there are some superb Zeiss, Voigtlander,Balda, Canon etc out there much under-rated.

I for one am very disappointed. I was hoping for continuous pours of cab and pinot until the NHS and any other links are established. And very dark chocolate instead of popcorn, OK?

Since we now have scale focused rangefinders, which are technically not rangefinders at all, how about my request to convert Xpan/TX-1 into a more general Panoramic Rangefinder heading?

sorry all gone, you must have got here late.

Ira, I see there are now MF panoramic and large format panoramic forums so I think the odds of getting a forum for 35mm are good.

Oh .. they're there..
look for "Bigger than 35mm" - they may not be on the main page but there's a WHACK of them on the "forums" page

I like the idea of introducing more specific forums so our posts about rf related outliers dont get lost in the mass of postings...
