been thinking about the new smaller, slower 50 from fuji...
i find it interesting that fuji first started off with a 3 lens kit...the 18/35/60 and folks were pleased as punch...fuji followed with an assortment of fine lenses that made people happy enough to part with their cash and fill their camera bags.
and now...fuji has given us a new 23/35/50...all smaller, lighter, slower and cheaper...i think that's pretty fantastic.

also been thinking that the new 23 & 50 would make a very nice street kit.

Yeah, for me, the smaller 23, 35, and 50 for the X-Pro2 are perfect. On the X-T2, the 16-55mm zoom is perfect. Very happy with Fuji. So yeah, I've ordered the 50mm (and the X100F). This is all of the gear that I will have.

I've gotten deep into the cheap Chinese manual focus lenses in Fuji mount. Just picked up the 24 (25) and 35 lenses and I'm probably buying the 28 and 50's. The lenses are tiny and all sell for less than $85 delivered. The picture quality and bokeh are both very good. The lenses all have 10 or 12 blades and round apertures.

Brand? Is it Meike?

i will definitely be ordering one as it will compliment my XF18 as a light duo travel lens.
not in a rush though as for now i'll just use my 50mm ais.

also not happy with the filter size but not a big deal, ill just get a 46-52 step up

I don't do much low light photography so the 18-55mm f2.8-4 zoom works for me. Beats swapping out lenses. Funny, I primarily use primes with film.

Yes, you're the guy who gave me this fever. I have the Zonlai 25 and really like the output. Going probably for the 50 next (Meike), not that I need another 50mm lens, but I'm hooked now on inexpensive kicks.

Glad to help! The 50 is in my shopping cart right now. I'm debating about the 28 since I already have the 27mm Fuji. On the other hand, I also have about 10 different 50's!

i guess no one is interested in the original topic...the new 50, the smaller new lenses...maybe the 50 and 23 as a street kit...
just sayin'...

Sorry for going off target. I'm not at all interested. I have nearly all of the Fuji lenses and no desire to duplicate any of them just to get a smaller lens. When the new 35mm came out people were rushing to buy it as it had been reported that the AF was 'faster' than the f1.4. I couldn't care less about AF speed but I bought one because I was curious. Hated it from the first time I used it. I have the 23mm f1.4 as well as the 56mm f1.2. Sure, they're bigger lenses but they balance well and are tack sharp. No way am I going to spend a couple of hundred bucks to get a slower lens no matter how small it is as long as I already have the same lens.

i'm in the same boat...don't want to double up on lenses, not willing to sell the bigger/faster lenses...maybe down the road if a used one pops up at a good price, it might be fun to play with one...

To me, it was the dollars and the duplication. I'm okay with spending $85 to get a lens that duplicates but I'm not okay with spending $300. Also, the 'look' that you get with the cheap manual focus lenses is pretty cool due to the round aperture.

On topic: The Fuji 50/2.0 looks very good to me. I don't "need" it (have lots of 45-55mm lenses), but will most likely buy it after the reviews come in. I have Fuji 18, 27 & 35/1.4. If I had to start over, the three f2.0 Fujis would be my kit.

I like the idea of this new 50mm lens. As a street photography lens, it could be useful for me. I've wanted to experiment with more 'compression' in my images (background having more value in the image). And in this age where everyone on the street is so d**n sensitive about having their picture taken, a short tele lens might work well. And obviously, the 50 (aka 75mm) would do nicely as a portrait lens. I'm saving up for the 50 now.
