I am a bit disappointed that the new zoom lens has no fstop markings on the lens barrel. Instead a simple slider switch that looks like auto or user aperture controlled. The alues probably show up in evf/ovf instead.

I wonder what the msrp will be for the xe1?

If this model had the X-Pro1 sensor, it'll sell. If not, hmmm...?

Gotta believe it would Be same sensor. Any sensor switch should be for a x100 upgrade or a higher end pro model then the current xp1. Things certainly ave gotten interesting this month 🙂

I wonder if the EVF is a better quality EVF than what is used in the current hybrid version. Also, has anything else been tweaked or is this simply a X-Pro1 without OVF and added pop up flash. Time will tell.

Yep, I was wondering the same thing. I love the OVF so it doesn't matter too much for me. But if the camera is EVF only, it hope it doesn't lag as badly for all future users of this camera!

I was a bit disappointed too, but it makes sense considering that the zoom is a variable aperture (a constant f/2.8 throughout would've been great though). Maybe we'll see a Sigma/Tokina/Tamron 17-50mm constant f/2.8 down the line in X mount.

I think it'll still have an aperture ring on the lens though. It'll just spin infinitely (the reason for the A switch) and you'll just have to look inside the camera to see the aperture (like a Canon S90). Look at the picture, it looks like there's three rings: focus on top, zoom in the middle, aperture on the bottom.

They really do need to give that wheel on the back of the camera more functions though...

Shows top, front, and back of the camera. Control setup just like the xp1 except of course no ovf/evf lever 🙂. Addition of new flash button on back.. There is shot with new flash extended. Looks kind of like the Sony rx100 flash strut approach, I wonder if it can tilt up like the Sony. No mention of guide number.

I think I am in... Probably going to buy the new xe1... Will just wait a bit since I already have the xp1.. More interested right now in terms of the confirmed release date for the new lens that are due out later this year.
- under 1000
- built in flash
- faster af
- retains the xp1 sensor
