Obviously none of the folks at LFI magazine are familiar with TOM.
In the latest issue they filled up the "summer vacation issue" 06/2008 with all sorts of Leica accessories. Luigi case, Billingham case, tripods etc. Also mentioned (incl. pics) the softies from TOM. Allthough they give his first name as "JIM". They at least have the correct website www.rapidwinder.com. But this tells me that none of the folks writing the article or reading through it before it went to the press, have a lot of insight into RF's

I'm surprised it took so long for that to be noted here. I saw it last week.
The latest LFI is full of very fine (mostly film!) images. The blues in the Zanzibar shots are uplifting.

Tom's evil twin. They don't like to talk about him.

Hey, I haven't received my promised copy of LFI yet. I was supposed to get a subscription with my submission. What's the image on the cover?

Why would Leica feature Tom's Rapidwinder or Rapidgrip in their magazine? Those two products compete with Leica products. His softies don't.

yes. LfI did scramble my name, but it was not that important. They did have the web-site right!
I have never before visited the German Leica site! Opinionated bunch aren't they!!!
I am always impressed with people who have opinions about poducts like lenses, cameras and, yes, even Softies without having tried them!

Good morning Tom,
Oh, them Germans are!
Don't know what it is, but you find the same attitude in many other German forums.
I actually prefer to read the International Leica forum.
Best regards,

Small correction: The L-Camera Forum WAS the official Leica Forum until two years ago - since then it's run by me as editor. I'm working together with Leica but they are no more officially involved. So: Shame on me and my users but not on LeicaI have never before visited the German Leica site!
Indeed: As moderator of the International and the German part of the forum it's really amazing how much friendlier the tone is in the English speaking forum. It has more than half of the postings and traffic but moderation of the German part takes more than 90% of my time...Opinionated bunch aren't they!!
That's part of online communities - perhaps especially German ones - sometimes I'd like to tell some of the guys:I am always impressed with people who have opinions about poducts like lenses, cameras and, yes, even Softies without having tried them!
You may tell us your opinion, but you don't have to...
But most of the forum members are decent and nice people. In June we had our first international user meeting in Germany with participants amonst other from Norway, UK and Italy.
I think everybody liked it...
Best regards

Well, it doesn't surprise me. I quit taking it a year ago. I would look forward to receiving it, and when the issue would arrive, I was usually disappointed. Not much in the way of real information, and the articles were often written in a boring or opague style, with awkward grammar at times.
I look forward to Tom A's articles in the Viewfinder. They are lively and entertaining, and the rest of the articles are good as well. And you get an LHSA membership thrown in! The irregular publication intervals add to the suspense!

it's just hide and seek
The LFI also did some strange stuff with the new november issue stating that Ilker Maga, a Turkish and Bremen-based photographer whose main interest is Istanbul as a city (street, urban, reportage), would take his photos with a "M6 from the 1940's on which he puts a 2.5/35 Summarit with an adapter-ring"...
:bang:
But I'll visit Maga's exhibition about Istanbul next week or so, since it is one of the seldom opportunities overhere to see a good photo-exhibition without traveling at least 2 hours (Hannover or Hamburg)...
edito: Where can one get that Viewfinder magazine?
