Hi, just got my used R-D1s...

I'm still not sure if I've done the right thing... I find R-D1s's electronic a bit outdated, and it is discontinued (I wonder how long there will be spares and service...)

But I had no choice... I wanted a digital rangefinder; Leicas are beyond my reach and R-D2 is still a dream (isn't it?)

Hope I do not regret!

Greetings!

I think EPSON maybe discontinue any project about digital RF,

but it's still a business.... so... who knows ? one day, maybe we can see CANON FF digital RF :)

Hi Congrats on the RD-1s.I have had my RD-1 about a year and a half and have had nothing to worry about-no faults. So just enjoy that camera and the great images its capable of.

Regards
Steve

Congratulations. I've had my RD1 for almost three years and it has been great. I'm sure you won't regret it.

If your in the states there are alternatives to Epson repair. See Rich Culters FAQ site: http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1/r-d1_14.htm

I worry about Epson's lack of backup as well, but like Gid mines almost 3 years old and been problem free.

I did though have another hands on with an M8 yesterday and it is tempting (only as an R-D1 backup ;) ) before the October price increase!

Greetings!

Had mine about three weeks and believe me, once you get your workflow down, it can produce wonderful images. I wouldn't worry too much about the camera itself, if you use it, it will probably stay "healthy".

If you are interested, my Web site gallery "R-D1s" has some images from my few weeks with the camera with a 2.0/50mm summicron, 4.5/15mm Heliar and the 2.8/21mm Biogon, plus some high ISO samples. Click here for the R-D1s gallery.

I'll say it too; Congratulations. The RD-1 for me makes the best images I think I've ever had. I get a little nervious about repairs too. (One of my bookmarks is Steve's Camera Service Center should I ever need their expertise) Look around on the Digital Rangefinders gallery. I think you'll find some great images done with the RD-1.

Thanx guys!

I'm enjoying my new toy very much!

This is a test shot I made when reading the manual...

I'll cross my fingers and hope my D-R1 stays healthy until the day I win a Leica in some Poker game...:p

Hey, your legs are the wrong way round  Also if you're going to shave your legs its better to do both :D

Don't worry about winning a Leica - the RD1 is just fine.
