Hi all

I'm Quino, new to the forum. I found this list when I was googling for rangefinders. I have 2 Kiev rangefinders and a Zorki-4- after 'discovering' FSU rangefinders. I'm planning to get perhaps one more Russian Leica copy. Right now, I'm on the crossroads. Can't decide yet which should be for me. Can anyone guide the way?

I'm setting my sights to the Kiev. I like what I find in them, particularly it's burn proof metal clad shutter which looks quite indesctructible. But I also like to try the Leica copies.

Can anyone suggest reliable maintenance sites for these cameras? I've heard of all sorts of rangefinder adjustments and shutter calibrations. I would like to see if I can do these on my own, considering that sending these "cheap" cameras to professional repair service can cost more than the camera itself.

Thanks in advance...

Welcome, Quino. I have experience only of a Zorki 1, so cannot advise. If you are in Europe and the camera is worth it, Oleg K. -- www.okvintagecamera.com -- would be a good repair option. As Pitxu says, there are plenty of resources available if you want to tackle the repairs yourself.

Hello Quino, I am new too.

I have FED-2 with Industar, very very good camera.

Only problems are shutter doing KON-KLANG and no long speeds.
Sometimes I can not shoot picture because no light enough for 1/20 and no long speed.

But it's very cheap camera, not sophysticated, work always well !

Kon-Klang is one of my favorite things about the Fed-2! It makes you feel like you did something really important.

Welcome to these threads. There's a lot to learn from the people here.

Welcome to RFF, Quino and Wlad.

If you're thinking of another model, see the sticky thread at the top of this forum. It may help you choose what else you want to try. There are also threads and plenty of resources for home maintenance and adjustments. If you have a specific problem, ask on here and someone is likely to know the answer!
